Description
This course is for employees at the school level that have been hired to be interpreters in the front office, classroom, or for conferences. Through HB 302, a legislative bill passed in Utah to strengthen family engagement in education, this bill focuses on the need for schools to effectively communicate with parents and guardians so they can fully participate in their child’s education.
Objectives
- Develop skills needed to handle complex school interactions with professionalism and accuracy
- Discuss interpretation in the contexts of ethics, cultural awareness, special education, parent-teacher conferences, and language access laws.
- Learn best practices for intepretation.
