Back by popular demand!  Join Kristin Poage for this research-based session.  Questioning students has long been one of the most widely used instructional techniques in the classroom. In this session participants will understand the role of direct instruction in student questioning and analyze how to create a more intentional and purposeful plan for questioning students. This can be one of the foremost tools a teacher uses to assess students and guide their own practice.

Kristin Poage is a middle school principal, professional development presenter, and district leader. She helped to create a standards-based grading and assessment movement in Monroe County schools in Indiana. Kristin has also been an adjunct faculty member of the Indiana University School of Education, where she instructed preservice secondary English educators, and a training consultant at St. John Associates.

As a teacher leader in Monroe County, she helped to create proficiency scales, train other educators, and implement standards-based classrooms at all grade levels. Kristin also helped develop a joint initiative with her district and Indiana University to train and implement a co-teaching model. She has conducted a series of professional webinars about moving from a traditional graded classroom to a standards-based, scale-scored classroom.
